Message from Mr Dominic Hannan

CORONAVIRUS and your medical care – Thursday 2nd April 2020

As you are all aware the Coronavirus pandemic is having widespread effects. From an Orthopaedic Practice point of view, the virus is impacting elective surgery, trauma surgery (less so) and face to face consulting in clinics.

Please see the information below in relation to opening hours, surgery and consultations. I wish everyone the best over the weeks to months ahead.

If you have any questions please call (03) 9789 3338 or email office@domhannan.com.au

Consulting  Rooms – Open

Main consulting rooms – My main consulting rooms are open at Peninsula Private Hospital, Suite 4, 525 McClelland Drive, Frankston, Melbourne VIC 3199.

  • Monday to Friday: 9am – 5pm (subject to change)
  • Saturday, Sunday & Public Holidays: Closed

Phone consultations – When possible, I am trying to undertake consultations over the phone.

In person consultations – Where essential, I am available for face to face consultations. Some patients will need physical examinations (eg. test knee stability) and some may have post-operative wounds that may require my attention. One of my team will contact you prior to your appointment to confirm the details.

Limited consultations – I have limited external consulting times at Rosebud, Patterson Lakes and Linacre Hospital. My team can clarify my availability.

Elective Surgery

Hip replacement, knee replacement, knee reconstruction and knee arthroscopy

Elective surgeries will most likely be delayed – For patients awaiting elective surgery, this unfortunately will not be able to be performed in the usual timeframe. I realise that some of you would have already been given a date for your operation in coming weeks to months. This will almost certainly be delayed.

My rooms will keep you updated regarding timing, when available. I would expect that my next elective case will be at least 3 months from now.

We will contact you each individually over coming days to discuss your unique situation.

Urgent cases – Please contact my rooms if your situation becomes urgent.

Emergency and Trauma Surgery

Emergency and trauma surgery – I will provide these services at Peninsula Private Hospital. These urgent cases will still go ahead (eg. patients with fractures, wounds, dislocations). I am on call at Peninsula Private Hospital every 4th week. My next on call week begins on Monday 6th April 2020.

Public Hospital Consultations

I have a public practice at Sandringham Hospital (part of Alfred Health). I consult and operate there on a fortnightly basis. I am on call every 8th week at Sandringham Hospital. My next on call week begins on Monday 27th April 2020.

I have also agreed to dedicate more time to my public practice to help with the effects of the Coronavirus.
